Web DevOps Engineer – Zoom (Remote, India)

Location: Remote (India)
Experience Required: 4+ Years

Zoom Video Communications is currently hiring a Web DevOps Engineer to help manage and scale the infrastructure behind its global communication products. This role offers a great opportunity for experienced professionals in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Platform Engineering who want to work on systems used by millions of users worldwide. Since the job is remote within India, candidates can work from anywhere in the country while contributing to a global technology platform.

Zoom is widely known for its video conferencing services, but the company also provides several other communication and collaboration tools. These include Zoom Phone, Zoom Contact Center, Zoom Virtual Agent, and Zoom Workforce Management. All these services require reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure. The Web DevOps Engineer will play an important role in maintaining and improving this infrastructure so that users can experience smooth and uninterrupted services.

Role Overview

The Web DevOps Engineer will be responsible for supporting and managing the infrastructure that powers Zoom’s communication products. This includes building automated systems, improving deployment processes, and ensuring the platform runs smoothly at a large scale. The engineer will work closely with development teams, operations teams, and other technical specialists to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency.

In this role, you will help create tools and processes that allow software to be built, tested, and deployed quickly and safely. Automation is a key part of the job, which means reducing manual work and improving the speed and reliability of operations.

Key Responsibilities

One of the main responsibilities of the Web DevOps Engineer is managing Linux-based systems. Most large-scale technology platforms rely on Linux servers to run their applications, so strong knowledge of Linux administration is essential. The candidate should be comfortable working with distributions such as RedHat and Ubuntu.

Another important responsibility is managing CI/CD pipelines. Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) allow software updates to be tested and released quickly. Tools like Jenkins and Argo CD are commonly used for this purpose. The engineer will use these tools to automate testing and deployment processes.

The role also involves working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Instead of manually configuring servers, modern systems use code to define and manage infrastructure. Tools such as Terraform and Ansible help automate infrastructure management and ensure consistency across environments.

The engineer will also work with cloud platforms, especially Amazon Web Services (AWS). Cloud computing allows companies like Zoom to scale their systems quickly and handle large amounts of traffic from users worldwide. The DevOps engineer will help design and maintain cloud infrastructure to ensure reliability and performance.

Another key responsibility is managing edge services such as Nginx and Cloudflare CDN. These technologies help deliver content quickly and securely to users around the world. They improve website speed, reduce latency, and protect systems from attacks.

Additional Skills and Experience

In addition to the core skills mentioned above, experience with containerization and orchestration tools is highly valuable. Technologies like Kubernetes or Amazon ECS are commonly used to run applications in containers. These systems make it easier to scale applications and manage microservices architectures.

Knowledge of microservices architecture is also helpful because many modern platforms are built using multiple smaller services instead of a single large application. Each service performs a specific function and communicates with others through APIs or messaging systems.

Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems is another advantage. Messaging systems allow different parts of an application to communicate with each other reliably and efficiently.

The ability to troubleshoot production issues is also essential. Large-scale systems sometimes experience unexpected problems, so DevOps engineers must be able to identify the cause quickly and resolve issues to maintain service availability.

Automation skills are highly valued in this role. By automating repetitive tasks, engineers can reduce errors, save time, and improve overall system efficiency.

Why This Role is a Great Opportunity

Working as a Web DevOps Engineer at Zoom provides the chance to contribute to a platform used by millions of people around the world. The role involves working with modern technologies, large-scale systems, and highly skilled engineering teams.

Because the position is remote within India, it offers flexibility and work-life balance while still allowing professionals to participate in a global technology environment. Engineers in this role will gain experience managing high-traffic infrastructure and developing scalable solutions for communication platforms.

The position is especially suitable for professionals who already have several years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering and are looking to take the next step in their careers.
